Principals

After graduating from Brown University in 1973, Richard joined WTPhelan as a producer. He established our Commercial Lines Division and eventually became our agency’s fourth President since 1898.  He continues to define the firm’s mission by directing its overall operations and serving as chief strategist. His leadership and management expertise have enabled him to attract and retain an executive team and support staff of the highest industry standards.  His innovation and vision with respect to identifying a preferred clientele in niche markets has resulted in WTPhelan’s consistent growth in the real estate, small business and retail industries.  Richard resides in Belmont and remains committed to supporting area charities.

After graduating from Princeton University in 1976, Tom joined WTPhelan in the Claims Division. He personally managed our claims operations in Cambridge for over twenty years.  Our clients feel very fortunate to have such an experienced claim resource as as part of their service team. A Certified Insurance Counselor, he presently works in our Belmont office.  Over the years, Tom has devoted a great deal of time and energy into his daughters’ swim teams.  Two of his girls attended Belmont High School and went on to swim in college and earn Division III All American honors.  He resides in Belmont.

After graduating from Harvard College in 1981, Dave joined WTPhelan in the Personal Lines Division.  Over the years, he became skilled at guiding our clients through the maze of life, disability and long-term care products.  David established and currently oversees our Life Insurance Division from the Cambridge office. He remains active at Harvard College and has served as reunion Chairman for the past four decades.  Dave resides in Belmont with his wife and four children.

After graduating from Dartmouth College in 1985 with B.A. in Economics (English minor), Robert worked at Bank of Boston in their Commercial Lending Division.  He joined WTPhelan and served for several years as a commercial lines producer.  A Certified Insurance Counselor, he now manages our Personal Lines Division and oversees agency acquisitions from the Belmont office.  Over the past 15 years, Mr. Ramsey has been involved in 10 acquisitions of local independent insurance agencies.  He has served for many years on the board of Cambridge Savings Bank.  He resides in Belmont with his three children where he was active in coaching BYBA basketball and Little League baseball.
